'Here and There' exhibit at City Mac

King College sophomore Jessany Bowman's photography is showcased in the Kingsport native's first solo exhibition -- "Here and There: Self Portraits by Jessany Bowman" -- on display through Jan. 31 at CityMug, located inside the CityMac store at 629 State St. in downtown Bristol, Va.

Bowman's exhibition, presented by the King College Photography Department, includes a group of self-portraits from her series "Here and There," shot at Bowman's home in Kingsport and around her hometown. The portraits are an exploration of Bowman's inner and outer self and her place within the world.

Images include a moody, backlit portrait of the artist wearing high-heel shoes and sitting at the grown-up table, and a long exposure that has the artist disappearing into the wallpaper under the stairs.
