Art D’Vine Kicks Off Springtime Events in Downtown Bristol

The Downtown Bristol galleries are again joining forces to present Art D’Vine, an evening stroll on Friday, March 8, 6–9p.m., that offers patrons the chance to gain after-hours access to merchants, sample domestic and international wines, and review a range of works from artists across the region.

“Art D’Vine is the premier way to experience the revitalization of the downtown and see what’s happening among area artists,” said Sylvia Musgrove of Kil’n Time. “There’s a wonderful collaborative spirit among the galleries and it’s the top way in the Tri-Cities to see a number of works at one time.”

As in the previous gallery hops, participants are invited to stroll around Historic Downtown Bristol, stopping at Kil’n Time, Benjamin Walls Gallery, CityMug, 606 State Street Gallery, One of a Kind Gallery, blowfish emporium, One Night Stand Gallery, Pretty Girl Station, and Hatching Perspective Gallery. Each gallery will feature a different wine varietal for sampling.

The gallery owners will have a spring in their step as they throw their doors open for a great night of fine art and fine wine. Ben Walls will be showing a new release from coastal Florida, and this Art D’Vine will also be the last night to take advantage of his Tiger Trip promotional pricing. Ceramic artist Aleta Chandler of Almost Aleta Studios will be demonstrating wheel-thrown pottery at Kil'n Time, and she will also have some of her finished works on display. Three new regional artists will be featured at blowfish emporium, which will also be hosting a surprise art improvisational project where everyone can participate! One of a Kind Gallery will have a large group of their artists, craftsmen, and authors available for conversation, photos, and signings – a great chance to purchase a piece of art and meet and talk with the artist who created it. Also, they are introducing Susan Ratliff Ball, a Bristol, Virginia, artist and her handmade diaper bags, totes, and baby products with an introductory price of 20% off. Two artists will be featured at 606 State Street Gallery: Bruce Cole, a photographer specializing in fine art nature images, and Ken Simmelink, a painter of animals and landscapes. With the Hatching Perspective Gallery, gallery hoppers get the chance to explore the creativity of art students in the Bristol, Virginia, school system. The One Night Stand Gallery, featuring the art of King College students, will be held at the Believe in Bristol office located at 36 Moore Street. There will also be a new participant joining Art D’Vine: Pretty Girl Station, a ladies’ boutique opening in Downtown Bristol, will be hosting an exhibition of paintings by artist Pat Jessee.

As always, this event is free to the public, though there is a suggested one-time donation of $5 with the proceeds supporting the work of the Arts and Entertainment District of Historic Downtown Bristol, TN-VA. In 2013, there will be three additional Art D’Vines: June 14, September 13, and December 13.
