Rogersville Playhouse will head “Under the Sea” for its production of “Disney’s The Little Mermaid JR.”
The show is being produced as a two-week camp directed by Amanda Campbell and choreographed by Anna Campbell. The Campbells are both natives of Morristown but have been involved with Rogersville Playhouse since Anna performed in 2010’s production of “RENT.” They are both happy to now call Rogersville Playhouse their “theatre home.”
“I am so proud of the work that has gone on at the Playhouse over the past two years, and I can’t wait to see the growth of the organization,” Amanda said. “Productions for our youth are the way we achieve that growth.”
Adapted from Disney’s 2008 Broadway production, the show includes memorable lyrics by Howard Ashman and Glenn Slater, classic music by Alan Menken, and a humorous and touching book by Doug Wright.
“Disney’s The Little Mermaid JR.” features the hit songs “Part of Your World,” “She’s in Love,” and the Oscar-winning “Under the Sea.”
In a magical kingdom fathoms below, the beautiful young mermaid Ariel longs to leave her ocean home to live in the world above. First, she’ll have to defy her father, King Triton, make a deal with the evil sea witch, Ursula, and convince Prince Eric that she’s the girl with the enchanting voice.
The show’s cast includes Natalie Arnold, Megan Bradley, Lora Cardenas, Bladon Ford, Nikita Ford, Jordan Grapperhaus, Jenny Hesoun, Allie Irwin, Erika Kirkpatrick, Amelia Metz, Kasi Russell, Mark Shelton and Zack Wilson.
Performances are at 7 p.m., July 27 and at 2 and 7 p.m., July 28 at the Playhouse, 1924 E. Main St., American Legion Road, Rogersville.
Tickets are $10 for general admission and $5 for children 5 and under.
