The Umoja Festival has decided it’s time for a move downtown.
The 14th annual unity festival, set for Aug. 13-14, will be held in downtown Johnson City and follow the basic outline of the Blue Plum Festival, organizers said Thursday. Umoja has been held at Freedom Hall since 2004. It originated at the Carver Recreation Center in 1997.
