This weekend is Easter and that means a few important traditions for my fam.
First off, my parents and little brothers are visiting from Indiana. Second, we’ll be heading to church on Saturday night at First Christian Church in Johnson City. (Guests welcome. Check out www.fcc-jc.org for schedule.) Finally, we hit up Easter brunch at Café One 11.
Okay, I recognize that going out for brunch at a “Neo-Asian” (their words, not mine) restaurant on Easter is kind of unusual, but it’s been quite awesome for the last three years.
The brunch is also actually pretty random experience, but it’s all very good. They’ve got crab legs and sushi; a buffet full of Asian food; a table of breakfast items; and a dessert spread. You can also order a few items—such as pancakes and waffles—that are made when you ask. AND, you get mimosas included. All of this costs around $20.
The best part about this situation is that I don’t have to cook on Easter.
Café One 11 opens at 11 a.m. for brunch. Visit www.cafeone11jc.com for more info.
Normally, you can make reservations by calling the restaurant at 283-4633. This Sunday, however, it’s first-come, first-served.
Got any other Easter traditions you’d like to share? Comment here or e-mail me at thegotogal@hotmail.com. If you do send me e-mail, make sure you put a subject that has to do with my column. I’m getting an unusually high number of junk/ spam e-mails lately, so I’m scared to open anything from senders I don’t know. Sorry if that means your e-mail got sent to junk. Just protecting the computer!
In an unrelated note, I just found out I have another reason to be excited about food in our area. I may be a little behind the times here, but I just found out that Edo’s in Johnson City has half price sushi on Wednesday and Sunday. For my money, they’ve got the best service and sushi in the Tri-Cities. Check out www.gotedos.com for more info/ specials in both JC and Kingsport.
