It’s the last weekend of Fun Fest, so I know exactly where I’ll be the next few days.
This year, I (sadly) had to miss out on most of Fun Fest because of a conference in Memphis. But, I drove home 9 hours yesterday (including three traffic jam stops), changed and went directly to J. Fred Johnson for the country concert.
All I’m saying is there’s no excuse not to participate!
Last night I was kind of surprised at the low attendance. The concert was great—particularly Love and Theft—but the people were scattered. Honestly, it’s worth the ticket price to hang out and enjoy the music, so come check out tonight’s Katherine McPhee show if at all possible.
I’m sure attendance will not be a problem on Saturday for the sold-out Zach Brown Band show. They are fantastic. My friends and I saw them last year at CMA Fest in Nashville where they performed their hits plus an extremely entertaining version of “Devil Went Down to Georgia.” I’m sure they won’t disappoint at Fun Fest either.
If you’re not into the whole concert scene, why not go eat dinner at Taste of Tri-Cities? For me, it’s an excuse not to cook. There are plenty of options including Fox’s Pizza Den, Bonefire, Ming Garden, Pratt’s, etc. Come early and bring a chair.
Daytime activities over the next couple days include Breakfast with the Balloons tomorrow. There’s also the big fireworks show tomorrow night.
Bottom line: come check out at least one Fun Fest activity if you haven’t yet. It’s inexpensive, fun and a great way to support our community.

I’ll see all of you lucky fans at Zach Brown Band on Saturday. Come say hi if you see me.
