It’s finally here.
This, my friends, is my favorite weekend—it’s Brewgrass time!
As you all know, I’ve been looking forward to this year’s Brewgrass festival since pretty much the day after last year’s festival. I even set my alarm for 11:55 p.m. the night that tickets went on sale at midnight and I’ve had my hotel reservations since March.
If you don’t know what Brewgrass is, it’s a beer and bluegrass festival in Asheville, N.C. The festival lasts from noon to 7 p.m. on Saturday and usually features about 40 brewers from across the country and several great bluegrass bands. Participants purchase a ticket for $40. With your ticket, you receive a tasting glass and responsible beer tasting for the entire time.
If you’re going, make sure to bring a chair or blanket and a hand-held umbrella. Unfortunately, no tents will be allowed this year. (As a side note, I’m not a big fan of this rule. I know it takes up space, but there’s seriously no shade in the venue unless you hang out by the Port-a-Potties.) You may also want to make your own pretzel necklace. I hear they’re all the rage.
For those of you who would like to attend, but don’t have tickets, I actually saw several on the Asheville Craigslist site selling for face value as of yesterday. You can also find out more info on brewers and bands at www.brewgrassfestival.com.
Never fear, however, if you can’t head to Asheville this weekend. Rhythm and Roots is back in Bristol this weekend and the lineup is awesome. I checked out the Web site www.bristolrhythm.com today and you can still purchase weekend passes—but all online sales end tonight. Tickets are $40 for the weekend. At this point, you’ll have to pick up online tickets at “Will Call.”
If you’d like to see a full lineup, be sure to check out the festival Web site.

I’ll see all you Brewgrass-ers this weekend in Asheville.
