Two of my favorite annual events are coming up this weekend, and I think you should all check them out.
First off, we’ve got the monthly Café Lola wine tasting. Why is this month’s tasting any different than the other 11 months of the year? This is the harvest-themed tasting, which is my absolute favorite.
I’ve been coming to Lola’s wine tastings faithfully for four years now. I’ve actually only missed two tastings in all that time (though I will, sadly, be missing this month’s because I’ll be at a Colts game in Indy). November is always my absolute favorite. This four-course meal with pairings usually starts with a butternut squash soup followed by Thanksgiving favorites such as turkey and dressing. Can’t really go wrong with that.
I haven’t gotten the reminder e-mail yet, but from what I understand the meal will be $45 per person. The tasting is this Sunday, November 14/ Reservations, as always, are accepted between 5 and 9 p.m. For more info, call Café Lola at 928-5652.
My other favorite event—which also takes place this Sunday—is the Magical Night of Giving at the Mall at Johnson City. Here’s another event that I never miss, but am going to have to skip this year. (You know I love the Colts if I’m missing both!). Tickets for the event are $5 and benefit local charities. What you get is the chance to shop after hours and get some seriously great deals on holiday shopping. You’re also entered for a chance to win a ton of great door prizes and packages.
Magical night takes place from 7 to 10 p.m. You can purchase tickets from one of several local charities, at the mall Guest Service Center (with profits benefitting United Way) or the night of the event. Be sure to get there early in order to find a parking spot. A list of this year’s sales can be found at www.mallatjohnsoncity.com/go/mnogsales.cfm.
Got any other great events this weekend? E-mail me at thegotogal@hotmail.com or leave a comment here. I want to hear all the great deals you got at the Magical Night when I get back.
