Happy Thanksgiving all!!
In honor of turkey day, I thought I’d provide you all with a holiday “Mad Lib”. It’s been a while, so if you forgot how it works here’s a refresher. Get a partner and a pen/ paper. Have your partner read off the words in (parenthesis) and write down your response (just say the first thing that comes into your head). For example, if the word was (noun), I might say “dog.” Then, fill in the blanks and read back your story. Enjoy!
It was Thanksgiving Day (year) and the (last name) family was (adverb) to go. It was (name)’s job to (verb) the (noun) with mom’s best (noun). Meanwhile, (name) was helping put the (animal) in the oven so it could (verb) for (number) hours. Dad, of course, was (ing verb) on the (furniture item) watching the latest (sport) game on television.
“(Interjection)!” Mom shrieked! “(Noise)!” Went the smoke alarm. It appeared the (dish) had started to (verb) on the stove.
“Quick,” mom shouted, “get the (noun). We need to put out the fire!”
“No,” I (ed verb). “You need some (noun) instead. That’s the best way to (verb) the (noun).”
Then, out of nowhere, Dad ran into the (room) carrying a (noun). He (ed verb) the (noun) so quickly, we barely knew what happened. After the (noun) had cleared, the whole family gathered to (verb) the (noun).
“(Interjection)!” (name) said. “That’s (adjective)!”
Instead of a (dish), it looked like an (adjective) (noun)! Looks like we won’t be having (dish) for (meal). Guess we’ll have to go out to (restaurant) instead.
