GTG planning a big December

Published December 12, 2010 | By Christan Thomas | The Go-To-Gal

Glad to see all of you again.

It’s been a busy couple of weeks since we last talked. I’ve officially survived finals and am one semester of coursework closer to getting my PharmD! One semester more of studying and I’m on to clinical rotations. Wooohooo!

Anyway, I’m terribly sorry to have neglected you over the past few months. This was one busy semester. But, I’m really looking forward to everything I get to do over break. I also thought I’d share in case you want to join in.

  • Starting today, I’m going to actually read books that have nothing to do with pharmacy school. Now, don’t get me wrong, I love pharmacy school. Sometimes, however, your brain just needs to have some candy. I’ve already finished up all but the last of the Sookie Stackhouse series, so next up is “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.” I’ll probably also hit up Mr. K’s for some awesome used books to keep me going. (Mr. K’s is also a great place to buy Christmas gifts if you’ve go a bibliophile like me in the family.)
  • Next weekend I’m headed to Nashville for a fabulous trip! We’ve got a big weekend planned. Friday, we’re seeing Garth Brooks in one of his flood benefit concerts (thanks to my lucky/ fabulous husband who got us lower level seats on the phone before they sold out). We’re also planning a side trip to the Jack Daniels distillery. Now, I’m not a big fan of whiskey, but I’ve never been to the distillery and I figure it’s something you’ve gotta do when you live in Tennessee. We’re also probably going to hit up Arrington Vineyards, which is a super cute winery just outside Nashville. If you’ve never been, it’s worth taking a picnic and heading out for the afternoon. They’ve got a beautiful setting and some pretty decent wine.
  • Finally, we’re hitting up Café Lola for their annual New Year’s wine tasting. Now I know this is probably a bit early to think about New Year’s plans, but I have it on good authority that reservations are filling up fast. Call 928-LOLA for reservations.

Got any other big plans for this month? E-mail me at thegotogal@hotmail.com or leave me a comment here. Happy holidays!
