Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas!
We headed west to visit my husband’s family in the other end of the state this year for Christmas. We also spent Thanksgiving in Indiana with my fam. While, I love seeing both our families, I’m extremely glad to be spending New Years at home in the Tri-Cities.
As I already mentioned, we’re hitting up Café Lola’s wine tasting on our New Years Eve. This year’s festivities feature a four-course meal with paired sparkling wines. The dinner is $55 per person and reservations are being accepted from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. via 928-5652. They’re also having a celebration in the Martini Room with drink specials.
I guess I’m a creature of habit because we always hit up Lola on New Years. Why ruin a good thing? They’ve got great food and a really nice atmosphere for the night. We’ve got a party of 12 this year, so it should be really fun.
Despite my enthusiasm, I know this may not be everyone’s cup of tea. So, if you’re not up for wine and martini’s this New Year’s there are still plenty of other celebrations going on. (As a side note, everyone should “friend” Blue Plum Festival on Facebook. They’ve been updating a lot on local happenings—including all the holiday gatherings.)
If you’re going to be in Johnson City, there are a couple of good options. One 12 Downtown is hosting a New Year’s Eve Extravaganza. Tables are all sold out for the event, but according to their FB site, half the tables are left. Call 631-0505 for more info. Blue Moon Dinner Theater is also hosting a New Year’s Party. Call 232-1350 for tickets. I hear they’re going fast. This event will feature a six-course meal with entertainment. Price is $89.99 per person or $150 for couples.
Looking for a little more off the wall plans? Try Cahootenany’s for a Grateful Dead tribute or The Jack at Capone’s. There is also a great list of other events here on www.gotricities.com. I tried not to overlap, but I know Blue Moon is on both lists.
