BuzzCutz #052 - The Yearly Check-up Episode

omanDave Manning is one of our favorite club owners in the tri-cities, and he came down to the studio to talk about his place in Bristol, O’Mainnin’s, and what they have going on in the near and far.  His place was a mob scene during Rhythm and Roots, and he and his staff handled it like champs.  He seems to take care of things like that.

Tom busted him on the stairs (and Dave and I agreed…), and the load-in they create, but that seems to be the lone complaint about the downtown establishment for folks these days.  We had a good time talking with him, and we hope you enjoy listening.

BuzzCutz #051 - The Butkus Episode

clayClay Prewitt is quickly becoming one of the region’s fine songwriters, and he has surrounded himself with good talent.  He is the kind of fella I would tell my friends to keep an eye out for, so keep that in mind and keep an eye out for him and his band, the Sundowners.  While you’re keeping your eye out, use your ears to give the podcast a listen and see what your intrepid hosts and their talented guest had to say about a range of topics.  Hope you enjoy.

BuzzCutz #048 - The “For Real This Time” Episode

first48Dave Manning of O’Mannin’s was supposed to be our guest this week, but it seems he got a little mixed up on his way to the studio and ended up re-scheduling.  We missed him, but the three of us trudged ahead and talked about several poignant topics, and some not so productive.  It was fun, though, and we hope that shows.  Enjoy.

BuzzCutz #047 - The ACME Episode

sadclownLance Williams is a fella from Elizabethton who keeps himself busy.  He owns and runs a couple of businesses, teaches guitar lessons, plays in more than a couple of musical projects, and always seems to have his hand in something.  He does a great job with ACME Music in Elizabethton, and is always open to trading with good folks, and setting kids up with instruments and music to get them started.  We had him on the podcast to talk about what is going on these days, and enjoyed the time.

Hope you do as well.  He’s playing guitar on the tunes on this week’s show, so give it a listen.

Note:  We thought this was the 48th podcast, but it turns out that we were working on number 47.  Just sayin’.

BuzzCutz #045 - The Billy Dee Williams Episode

gambleAlan Gamble joined us on BuzzCutz this week and brought years of talent and experience behind a drum kit, on the road, and onstage to the table.  Alan played his first gig in 1961, and shows no signs of slowing down - nor would we want him to.  He is still as solid as the day he started, and is constantly in high demand for bands, gigs, and recording projects.

Alan is currently playing with the JimJams, Bag a’Cats, and Clattering Trees, a recording project with Kevin O’Donnell and Dave Sieg.  Clattering Trees enlisted the aid of several good local musicians, including my wife, Vanessa Bentley, and Brandon Story, who you will hear singing on their second song.  So sit back and enjoy the podcast and the music, which also includes a last goodbye.
