Chorus to share Renaissance-era songs in concert

Voices of the Mountains will present “Timeless Texts: Musical Treasures from the Renaissance” at 8 p.m., Saturday, in the Kingsport Renaissance Center Theater.
The program focuses on historic sacred texts set to music. “Nun danket all Gott” is a poem written by German theologian Martin Rinckart in thanksgiving for an end to the Thirty Years War.
“Vom Himmel hoch.” a poem published in 1535 by Martin Luther in the form of a carol is a narrative on the birth and life of Christ.
“O Magnum mysterium” is an ancient responsorial chant from the Mass for Christmas Day. Admission is $10.
