Colonial Heights home to variety of businesses

Colonial Heights is an unincorporated, largely residential area just south of Kingsport.
Many people who live in Colonial Heights work in Kingsport or elsewhere.
The Sullivan County School System serves the Colonial Heights community.
There are two elementary schools — Miller Perry and Rock Springs — which feed Colonial Heights Middle School.
Along with Sullivan Middle School, CHMS feeds Sullivan South High School located on Moreland Drive.
Warrior’s Path State Park is located in Colonial Heights.
The park surrounds Fort Patrick Henry Lake and is one of the most popular sites in the state for family camping, picnicking and outdoor recreation.
Named for the park’s close proximity to the ancient Cherokee war and trading path, Warrior’s Path has a lot to offer outdoor enthusiasts. There are more than 12 miles of hiking trails. Mountain bikers will enjoy a challenging series of rides on our mountain bike trails. Guided horseback riding offers yet another perspective on the park.
During the summer, park naturalists offer daily planned activities such as guided hikes, wildlife demonstrations, historical tours, crafts games and evening campfire talks. The Marina offers paddleboats and fishing boats for rent.
The park has 135 campsites, all with tables and grills, and 94 are equipped with water and electrical hookups. Modern bathhouses provide hot showers and other necessities. Campsites are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
For golf enthusiasts, Warriors’ Path State Park has one of the finest 18-hole, Par 72 championship golf courses in the state. A nationally renowned Disc Golf course provides a different kind of golfing challenge.
Visitors can beat the summer heat at the park’s Olympic-size swimming pool. Pleasure boating and water skiing are very popular on the lake as is year-round fishing.

There are several restaurants in Colonial Heights including fast food and full-service. Perkins Family Restaurant, Motz Italian Restaurant, Raffaeles, the Plum Tree Chinese Restaurant, The Steak House and Moto Japanese Restaurant are among offerings.
Two grocery stores are located in Colonial Heights including Ingles Supermarket and Food City. There are several small shops, drug stores as well as Evergreen Garden Center.
