4 colleges serve the region

The Tri-Cities region has many higher education opportunities with a state university, community college and private liberal art colleges are all located here. East Tennessee State University in Johnson City has awarded degrees to more than 72,000 people since it opened in 1911. About 40,000 ETSU alumni live within a 100-mile radius of the campus. The university offers more than 100 degree programs from bluegrass to medical degrees to around 11,500 students, who represent 42 states and 62 countries.
