Racing big part of the culture

North Carolina may still be the epicenter of grassroots stock car racing in the United States, but race fans cant be disappointed with what the Tri-Cities region has to offer.
Twice a year the biggest names in NASCAR stock car racing come to Bristol to compete on the high banks of the Worlds Fastest Half Mile of Bristol Motor Speedway.
BMS broadened its horizons in 2004, adding a USAR Hooters Pro Cup to its August calendar, and a UARA-Stars Late Mode touring event in September, and those series will return in 2005. The NASCAR Nextel Cup, Busch and Crafstman Truck Series are still BMSs top attraction, however. More...

Festivals held in all cities, towns
There is perhaps no better way to see the character of a community than through the quality of its festivals, and with something going on almost every weekend in the Tri-Cities area, newcomers should have plenty of opportunity to get to know their neighbors.
For nine days every July, Kingsport becomes the center of attention in the region as it hosts Fun Fest. Designed to bring unity and fellowship to the community, Fun Fest includes a wide array of activities for folks of all ages.
