Surgoinsville named for James Surgine

Not much has changed in Surgoinsville since Lois McClain and her husband Chester moved to the area in 1947, but the close-knit community is an excellent place to call home, she said.
Its a nice, quiet area, McClain said. Its the kind of place where everyone knows everyone else.
Chartered in 1815 and named for Frenchman James Surgine, Surgoinsville (the misspelling was never corrected) is located between Church Hill and Rogersville on Highway 394 along the Holston River in Hawkins County. More... |
