Flutist Zara Lawler is known for innovative work that combines music, dance, theater and poetry. She and marimbist Paul Fadoul met as members of an educational ensemble called Tales & Scales. Now, as Lawler + Fadoul, the duo offers audiences an unexpected mélange of classical virtuosity, lively commentary, theatrical flair and a small dose of indie rock sensibility. Dedicated to increasing the repertoire for their unique instrumentation, their performances combine newly written pieces, their own transcriptions of classical works and even a few one-act plays.
“In ‘Clickable: The Art of Persuasion,’ flutist Zara Lawler and marimba player Paul J. Fadoul mix pop culture, indie rock sensibilities and high art as they perform new works from American and Canadian composers, a hip-hop poet, and a choreographer. Oh, and they do live commercial breaks during the show.” – Albany Times-Union
