Who’s the Fairest of the Fair?
The Appalachian Fair kicks off again this year with the Fairest of the Fair Pageant on Monday at the fairgrounds in Gray.
Ten contestants will be judged on beauty, poise and personality, and the winner will represent the Appalachian Fair in the state Fairest of the Fair Pageant in Nashville in January and will be awarded a $2,500 scholarship after her year-long reign is over.
The pageant’s theme this year is “The Beatles.” Entertainment will be provided by Robin Beals’ Dance Productions Royale, Miss Historic Jonesborough Annie Malcolm, Jaclyn Painter and Meghan Painter. Elizabeth Painter will be mistress of ceremonies and an entertainer.
Competing this year are Kihley Bellamy, Kacie Campbell, Sarah Grace Garland, Bayli Jo Goss, DeAnna Greer, Shyanne Pressley, Maddie Ratliff, Stephenee Stoots, Zoie Stout and Kaylee Wittenberg. Last year’s winner, Ali Kosinski, will crown the winner.
